China began to have a calendar about 4000 years ago. According to the one page oracle bone calendar in the oracle bone inscriptions, it is proven that the calendar of the Yin Dynasty had reached a considerable level. This page of oracle bone calendar is the oldest physical calendar of all humanity, and it is also known as the calendar.
Tang poem: "There is no calendar day in the mountains, and the cold knows no year." "Calendar day" may be the earliest Taiwanese calendar. During the Tang Dynasty, historians cut paper daily and bound it into volumes, with one copy per month. Each page is written with the month and date, with blank spaces for eunuchs to record the emperor's words and actions, which is called the "calendar day".
At the end of the month, the "calendar day" is first submitted to the emperor for review, and then archived by the historian for use in compiling the "National History". Due to its function of recording time and discussing events, various civil and military officials are emulating it.
Early development
According to historical records, around 1100 years ago in the first year of Yongzhen reign of Emperor Shunzong of Tang, calendars were already used in the imperial palace. At that time, the calendar, also known as the imperial calendar, not only recorded dates, but also was an important material for compiling national history. At that time, the calendar was similar in that it was divided into 12 volumes. The number of pages in each volume was determined based on the number of days per month, and the month and date were written on each page. It was then handed over to the eunuch who served the emperor for temporary storage. After the eunuch recorded the emperor's words and actions on the empty pages of the day and submitted them to the emperor for review and approval at the end of each month, it was sent to the historian for archiving. The historian then combined the content of the calendar with events of the court and various regions in China, After being refined, polished, and recorded, it becomes a national history.
In the future, due to the convenience that calendars brought to life, they gradually entered the families of many high-ranking officials in the court, and after some changes, they compiled their own calendars; In the future, as calendars became more popular and family oriented, people began to refer to the monthly orders of the main branches in calendars; The solar terms and auspicious days of the zodiac are printed on the calendar, leaving a large blank space for recording events.
As for the development of monthly calendars into various forms such as wall calendars and desk calendars, it is only a matter of nearly a century. From the initial simple style to many variations, the popularity and development of the market economy and the internet have driven communication between different cultures in recent years. Of course, the most common trend is that calendars have become smaller and more refined.
